Dr. Alec Miller is a world-renowned clinical psychologist, teacher, researcher, author, and a leading authority on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). He co-developed DBT for adolescents and families with Dr. Jill Rathus and Dr. Marsha Linehan, and he is co-author of the primary texts in this area, including the widely used DBT Skills Manual for Adolescents. In addition, he has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, and serves as a reviewer for over a dozen professional journals. Dr. Miller is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Miller is the co-founder and co-director of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC), a training and clinical practice center in New York, and has trained thousands of clinicians worldwide. He is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification-certified clinician, and his training programs at CBC are the first DBT-Linehan Board certified DBT Programs in New York state. Dr. Miller is also the president and founding board member of the Access Psychology Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports historically underserved communities by increasing access to mental health treatment, training, and education.
