Motivational Interviewing - Foundational FAQs

Do I need any prior experience with Motivational Interviewing?

No. This is a foundational course designed to help you learn Motivational Interviewing from the beginning. You’ll be guided through the core ideas and skills in a clear, practical way, with demonstrations that show MI in action. If you’ve had some exposure before, this course will help you refine your approach and use MI more naturally and effectively in conversation.

How is the MI Foundational course structured over the six weeks?

This six week course combines short, beautifully designed video lessons, therapy demonstrations, and interactive exercises to help you build skill step by step. New content is released each week and is self-paced - there's no specific time to be online!

You’ll also join a moderated forum where William Miller, Stephen Rollnick, or Theresa Moyers answer questions and share insights in a supportive learning environment.

Bonus materials, a digital library, and 12 months of access let you explore topics and revisit key ideas anytime.

What practical Motivational Interviewing skills will I develop in this foundational course?
