How long is the Intensive Plus program?

The DBT Intensive Plus program is 12 months, which includes the DBT Foundational online course, team formation sessions, weekly team meetings, and consultations with a DBT expert.

What is the time commitment each week?

The full DBT Intensive Plus program takes 12 months, and your time commitment during this program will vary.

You can complete Part A: DBT Foundational over a few days or in blocks of time spread throughout the 12-month access period. In addition, you will need to allow extra time for the Team Formation and Consultation sessions with your DBT expert, on average once every two weeks. We recommend planning for a heavier workload during this first part as it is a program requirement that you attend all sessions.

Regular meetings with your team will continue for the length of your program and you will need to allocate time for these sessions.

How is the program presented?

All learning pathways include:

  • Video lessons from a diverse range of DBT experts

  • Detailed videos of therapy session demonstrations featuring expert analysis

  • Exercises to practice new skills

  • Homework and reading assignments to assist you in applying learning

  • Animation to reinforce key points

Also included in the Intensive and Intensive Plus pathways:

  • Ongoing consultation and support from a DBT expert

You will need to be online at specific times to meet with your team's DBT expert during the consultation part of your program, on average every two weeks during the early portion of your Foundational course.

Regular meetings with your team will continue for the length of your program and you will also need to be online at specific times to meet with them.

What if I can't attend the whole DBT Comprehensive program, drop out early, or need to defer?

What happens if I fall behind?

Part A: DBT Foundational is a self-paced course and you have 12 months access to the course content. If you fall behind, you can catch up at your own pace.

This program does have attendance requirements for your DBT consultation team meetings and you are expected to attend these sessions. Excessive absences from these meetings may result in dismissal from the program, so we recommend planning your workload to accommodate these requirements. If you know in advance that you will miss a meeting or consultation, please advise your team and your DBT expert trainer.
