Professor Susan Folkman is a professor of medicine emerita at the University of California San Francisco. She has served on the National Advisory Mental Health Council and the National Advisory Council for the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Professor Folkman has contributed to psychological research for several decades with world-leading expertise on stress and coping. She is the editor of The Oxford Handbook of Stress, Health, and Coping and the co-author of Stress, Appraisal and Coping, a seminal book in the social sciences.
