Dr Kathryn Rheem, along with Sue Johnson, is the co-founder/director of Strong Bonds, Strong Couples, LLC, which provides Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)-based weekend retreats for Soldiers and Marines coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan and their partners.

Dr Rheem has trained U.S. Army Medical Command clinicians and Family Life Chaplains in EFT and worked with military service members and their partners at Forts Hood, Bragg, Belvoir, and Leavenworth, Camp Lejeune, and in Germany.

Dr Rheem conducts EFT training internationally, has completed a preliminary task analysis of the withdrawer re-engagement process, and has published four chapters and an article on using EFT with military couples.
