profile

Dr Michael F Steger is a recognized expert on meaning in life, purpose, and positive psychology.

He is the Founder and Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose and is Professor in the Counseling Psychology and Applied Health and Social Psychology programs at Colorado State University.

With well over 120 peer-reviewed journal and book chapter publications, his influence on academia is as significant as his connection with everyday seekers of meaning, particularly through his popular TEDx talk and appearances in mainstream media, including TIME and Men’s Health.

Dr Steger’s research focusses on understanding how people create a life worth living; through their work, relationships, and life in general. He seeks to help people flourish and achieve well-being.

He notes that finding meaning in life is not about feeling great all the time and that it is the fragility of our existence that is key to its meaning. Significance, coherence, and purpose are all key concepts in his thinking.

Dr. Steger is a sought-after speaker around the world and provides science-driven presentations, workshops, training, and consultation related to the psychology of meaning and excellence.
