Suzanne Meeks is a Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville. She is a well-known authority on depression and other disorders in long-term residential care and nursing home settings. She has spent much of the last twenty years developing and refining an intervention for depression in nursing home residents called BE-ACTIV.

Professor Meeks has been widely published across a range of prestigious peer-reviewed journals. She is the Editor-in-Chief of The Gerontologist and has served on the Editorial Board of The Clinical Gerontologist. She has received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Kindred Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Professor Meeks has won multiple awards over the course of her career and was made a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America in 2014.
