Dr Deborah Beidel is well known nationally and internationally for her work on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anxiety-related disorders. An award-winning educator, she is Trustee Chair and Pegasus Professor of Psychology and Medical Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She is also Executive Director of UCF RESTORES, a nonprofit clinical research center and treatment clinic at UCF.

Dr Beidel has a particular interest in how PTSD affects first responders, as well as veterans, active-duty personnel, and survivors of sexual assault and mass violence. Much of her research focuses on how different modes of technology can help with treatment.

An acclaimed author, Dr Beidel has written several hundred scientific publications, including journal articles and book chapters. She is also the co-author of books such as Abnormal Psychology and Adult Psychopathology and Diagnosis. Dr Beidel has overseen and continues to oversee, many government-funded research programs and initiatives.

Recently, Dr Beidel’s work has addressed anxiety, stress, isolation and other factors brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
