Tamara Hubbard, MA, LCPC, is a family therapy-trained licensed clinical professional counselor and the author of May Contain Anxiety: Managing the Overwhelm of Parenting Children with Food Allergies (published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2025 and available worldwide).
Tamara is recognized as an expert on the mental health impact of parenting children with food allergies, with a focus on food allergy anxiety, caregiver stress, and the psychological demands of daily allergy management. She works clinically with parents navigating hypervigilance, anticipatory anxiety, and the emotional complexity of keeping children safe in a world that often feels unpredictable, utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), exposure, and family systems-based approaches.
In addition to her clinical work, Tamara is regularly invited to speak by national organizations and food allergy programs on the emotional and mental health challenges faced by food allergy families, including invitations from FARE, AAFA, AAAAI, ACAAI, CFAAR, and Stanford University’s food allergy program at the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research. She is also the founder of the Food Allergy Counselor resource website and the Academy of Food Allergy Counseling, as well as its allergy-informed therapist directory (the first of its kind).
