Professor Craig S. Hassed OAM is Education Lead at the Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies at Monash University in Melbourne. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, where he has worked since 1989.
Professor Hassed is a leading authority on mindfulness, meditation and mind-body medicine. He coordinates mindfulness programs across Monash University and developed a world-first core-curricular healthy lifestyle course based on mindfulness for its medical curriculum. His expertise has seen him collaborate with other national and international universities on similar courses.
Professor Hassed has written more than 14 books, 16 chapters and over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he is regularly invited to speak at events and conferences for the health, education, government and private sectors.
The founding president of the Australian Teachers of Meditation Association (now Meditation Australia), Professor Hassed has featured in documentaries including The Connection and My Year of Living Mindfully. He also co-authored the two world-leading online mindfulness courses on the FutureLearn platform. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to Medicine.
