Dr Jerry Reed is one of America’s leading authorities in the field of suicide prevention. A keen advocate of the importance of mental health and public health in preventing suicide, violence and injury, Dr Reed is committed to developing, implementing and evaluating preventative programs and strategies.

Dr Reed is Senior Vice-President for Practice Leadership at Education Development Center (EDC), a leading global non-profit designed to assist people to live healthily. He is also Portfolio Lead, Suicide, Violence and Injury Prevention with the EDC.

He is involved with several important suicide prevention projects and programs, including the Zero Suicide Institute, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Children’s Safety Network. Dr Reed is also a former director of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center.

A passionate and outspoken supporter of a public health and mental health approach to injury, violence, and suicide prevention, Dr Reed has testified before Congress. He also speaks nationally and internationally and is frequently consulted by the media as an expert on suicide and suicide prevention.
