Dr Ethan Kross is a respected psychologist whose realm of expertise is self-control. His is research examines how people can control their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to improve their lives. To study self-control, Dr Kross and his laboratory use a variety of tools (e.g., behavioral, diary, physiological, neuroscience, social media) and focus on adult, child and clinical populations.

Dr Kross is a Professor of Psychology and Management at the University of Michigan and its Ross School of Business, where he is also Director of the Emotion and Self-Control Laboratory.

Dr Kross has delivered talks and workshops across the United States and beyond. His research has been published in Science, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, among other peer-reviewed journals. He has been interviewed on CBS Evening News, Good Morning America and NPR’s Morning Edition.

Dr Kross’s research has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Harvard Business Review, USA Today, The Economist, The Atlantic, Forbes, and Time. Dr Kross is the author of the forthcoming book, Chatter: The Voice In Our Head, Why It Matters, and How to Harness It.
