DBT Intensive Course Review

My team found it extremely helpful. It really helped to prepare us to implement DBT on our inpatient unit and start a small comprehensive outpatient program. It was good for people with different levels of exposure to DBT at baseline and we formed a cohesive team. I think it is worthwhile to learn or relearn skills together, meet with a consultant and be able to develop a true DBT team. I think without the training we would not be as far into the development of a DBT program if we were to rely on our own individual learning or the knowledge of one person with the most of knowledge of DBT. We were able to discuss concerns or barriers with the consultant. It helped give us space to conceptualize and strategize about steps we want to take to develop our program. It gave us a common language and framework since not all team members had exposure to DBT before.
