Dr Robin F. Goodman is a psychologist and art therapist specializing in helping children, adults and families with trauma, illness, and grief. She is a certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapist and trained in therapy for Complicated Grief. She is the Associate Director of Public Education and Bereavement at Child HELP Partnership at St. John’s University, an organization dedicated to helping children impacted by trauma and violence.

Dr Goodman has held senior positions at the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and New York State Psychological Association Disaster Response Network. Previously, she was the Executive Director and Bereavement Program Director of A Caring Hand and Co-Director of the NYU Child Study Center 9/11 Child and Family Recovery Program. A leader in her field, Dr Goodman founded the Child Life Program in Pediatric Oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital and developed the behavioral health service of the Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at NYU Medical Center.

Dr Goodman is committed to increasing awareness of mental health and parenting. She has a wide range of experience in teaching and public education and has contributed to local and national television, print, and online materials. After 9/11, she wrote and developed Caring for Kids After Trauma and Death: A Guide for Parents and Professionals, used nationwide. She also created Making Connections, a grief group curriculum.

Dr Goodman is the author of acclaimed books, including The Day Our World Changed: Children’s Art of 9/11, Ready to Remember: Jeremy’s Journey of Hope and Healing, and Rosie Remembers: Forever in Her Heart.
