Dr Jennifer S. Cheavens is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at The Ohio State University. She is the Faculty Advisor of the Mood and Personality Studies Lab where she oversees investigations into the treatment of depression, borderline personality disorders and more.

An expert in positive psychology, Dr Cheavens has a particular interest in hope and how it relates to mood and psychological wellbeing. She helped develop a hope intervention to be delivered in therapy settings and continues to conduct insightful research into this field. Another area of interest includes how treatments such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can be adapted to treat adults with depression and comorbid personality disorders.

Dr Cheavens co-authored the book, The Science and Application of Positive Psychology, and has published over 100 articles and book chapters. Her significant contributions have been recognized with a number of teaching and research awards including the George Vaillant Award for Contributions in Positive Clinical Psychology by the International Positive Psychology Association.
