Dr James Mazza is a professor of educational psychology and director of the School Psychology Program at the University of Washington. A former school psychologist, Dr Mazza’s research is focused on adolescent mental health problems including depression, anxiety and suicidal behavior. He also explores the impact of exposure to violence and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Alongside Dr Elizabeth Dexter-Mazza, he developed DBT STEPS-A, a social-emotional learning curriculum for use in school settings. Other areas of interest include cyberbullying and the impact of social media, smartphones and tablets on young people. He is the former President of the American Association of Suicidology.
