Holly Prigerson is Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and is an expert in grief and other psychosocial aspects of end-of-life care.

Dr Prigerson is the Irving Sherwood Wright Professor in Geriatrics as well Professor of Sociology in Medicine, both at the Weill Cornell Medical College. She is also the Co-Director of the Center for Research on End-of-Life Care. Her focus is on the psychosocial and behavioral influences on care outcomes for patients and families confronted by life-threatening illness and death.

Her field trials of consensus criteria for Prolonged Grief Disorder were the basis for the inclusion of this new disorder in the 11th edition of the World Health’s Organisation’s International Classification of Disease (ICD-11).

Dr Prigerson was awarded an Outstanding Investigator Award by the National Cancer Institute in 2015, allowing her to implement a wide range of research-in-action projects and mentorships across seven years. This award adds to her already prolific publication record, including senior authorship on papers arising from landmark studies.
