Dr Matthew Pugh is a skilled practitioner of various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Enhanced CBT, Schema Therapy, and Voice Dialogue.

A Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society, Dr Pugh works in private practice assisting individuals to overcome their emotional difficulties, including depression, anxiety and eating disorders. In addition, he holds a senior role as a Specialised Clinical Psychologist with the National Health Service (NHS) Vincent Square Eating Disorders Service.

Dr Pugh’s research experience includes the role of Principal Investigator for a number of studies. His research interests include chairwork techniques, the internal voice of individuals with eating disorders, and treatments for eating disorders. He regularly presents and publishes his scientific research and offers training and workshops.

In 2019, Dr Pugh’s book, Cognitive Behavioural Chairwork, was published by Routledge. This publication brings together his teaching and previous publications on the innovative and powerful practice of incorporating chairwork into CBT practice and allied therapies such as Schema Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.
