Professor Christopher Kearney is a highly respected clinical child psychologist, Distinguished Professor and Chair in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He is also the Director of the UNLV Child School Refusal and Anxiety Disorders Clinic.
Professor Kearney’s area of expertise focuses on young people, in particular problematic absenteeism and school refusal behavior. He is also a leading authority on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among maltreated or traumatized youths, selective mutism, and other anxiety-related disorders in children and adolescents.
Professor Kearney conducts workshops for schools and mental health agencies and is widely published in peer-reviewed journals. His books include Helping School Refusing Children and Their Parents and Casebook in Child Behavior Disorders.
He has won a number of awards during his career, including the William Morris Award for Scholarship, the Barrick Distinguished Scholar Award and the Harry Reid Silver State Research Award. Professor Kearney is also a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 12; Clinical Psychology).
