Dr Janis Whitlock is a research scientist and associate director for teaching and training at the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research. She is the founding director of the Cornell Research Program on Self-injury and Recovery, as well as co-founder and first president of the International Society for the Study of Self-injury. Passionate about building the human capacity to thrive, Dr Whitlock is best known for her research into Non-suicidal Self-injury to help parents, carers and health professionals working with adolescents. Her recent research focuses on the use of social media and other technologies for the development of early interventions.
