Professor Michael P. Leiter is an Adjunct Professor at St Mary’s University and an internationally renowned expert in preventing occupational burnout and promoting workplace civility. He is the founder of Michael Leiter Consulting, where he surveys entrepreneurial potential and helps organizations apply interventions to provide a more fulfilling, supportive and social environment for their employees.

Professor Leiter specializes in the relationships between people at work, how the dynamics within an organization can lead to workplace burnout and its impacts on employees’ lives. His research is highly cited and is relied on by organizations and individuals to prevent burnout and improve work life.

Professor Leiter is co-developer of the Maslach Burnout Inventory assessment, a useful tool for organizations as workplace dynamics continue to evolve. He also helped Steople win the Organizational Development Award in 2019 at the APS Workplace Excellence Awards by developing the groundbreaking SCORE program.
