Professor Candice Alfano is a preeminent professor of psychology and licensed clinical psychologist. She is Director of the Sleep and Anxiety Centre of Houston and Fellow of the Health Research Institute at the University of Houston.

Professor Alfano’s research program focuses on understanding how aspects of sleep alter emotional and behavioral health in both high-risk and elite populations. She also develops and tests behavioral interventions for sleep problems and anxiety disorders.

Professor Alfano has been principal investigator on several research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, The National Science Foundation and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She has authored more than 125 scientific papers and chapters and edited or authored three books.

Professor Alfano is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and has served on the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine's board of directors.
