Dr John Eastwood is well known for his research into the intersection between cognition and emotion. He received his PhD from the University of Waterloo, Ontario and is currently a clinical psychologist and an Associate Professor of Psychology at York University, Ontario.

Dr Eastwood has particular expertise on the subject of boredom. He has received funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to explore the cognitive mechanisms behind the experience of boredom. He is also the co-author of the popular book, Out of My Skull: The Psychology of Boredom, which offers insight on how to engage with boredom so that it does not negatively affect our lives.

Dr Eastwood is also Principal Investigator at The Boredom Lab, a group of researchers based at York University. He is widely published in many peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Eastwood trains future psychologists at York University and in his capacity as a clinician, Dr Eastwood treats people dealing with anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
