An expert in trauma, Dr Charles Figley is distinguished chair in Disaster Mental Health and director of the Traumatology Institute at Tulane University, New Orleans. He is also co-director of the Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy. Dr Figley established the Traumatology Institute and treatment guidelines for traumatized individuals in the wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. His pioneering research is focused on the human stress response, traumatic stress injuries and resilience. He has authored over 300 articles on trauma.
