Dr Jan Henk Kamphuis is an expert on personality disorders. He is a Director of Clinical Psychology in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Amsterdam and a licensed clinical psychologist.
A full professor of Psychological Assessment and Personality at the Clinical Psychology Programme of the University of Amsterdam, Dr Kamphuis has published over 200 articles. His areas of interest include anti-social and borderline personality disorders, clinical personality assessment, links between personality and psychopathology, forensic psychology and the psychology of stalking.
Dr Kamphuis’s current research projects include a randomised clinical trial on the effectiveness of therapeutic assessment at De Viersprong, a mental health care organization. In addition, he is researching the development of the Dutch Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire and optimising risk assessment among sexual offenders on the basis of archival data.
A former Fullbright scholar, Dr Kamphuis previously worked as a cognitive therapist and senior researcher for the mood disorders program at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. He is a Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment.
