Dr Stephanie E. Cassin is a pre-eminent Registered Clinical and Health Psychologist, a Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Healthy Eating and Lifestyle (HEAL) Lab at Ryerson University. In addition, she holds positions at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Dr Cassin's expertise lies in psychosocial interventions for binge eating and obesity. Her research focuses primarily on psychosocial predictors of bariatric (weight loss) surgery outcomes and interventions to improve outcomes, including virtual interventions to increase treatment accessibility such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Her research has been widely published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals.

Dr Cassin's book, Psychological Care in Severe Obesity: A Practical and Integrated Approach, is the first of its kind, informing health care professionals on psychological treatments for obesity.

Throughout her career, Dr Cassin has won multiple awards for excellence in research and training. She is frequently invited to present at workshops, conferences and symposiums for her expertise in CBT and MI to improve weight loss surgery outcomes.

Dr Cassin has been interviewed on several popular television and radio shows, including CBC Radio and Global News, and featured in printed publications such as Vice and The Calgary Sun.
