Dr Joe Oliver is a distinguished Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor and Program Director for the University College London Post Graduate Programme in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for Severe Mental Health Problems. He is the Founder of Contextual Consulting, an organization providing training, supervision and therapy in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and works within the National Health Service to develop training and deliver interventions for people with psychosis.
As well as educating fellow professionals, Dr Oliver runs a YouTube channel and organizes workshops to expand knowledge on ACT for the wider public. One of his specializations includes ACT for people with low self-esteem.
He is the author and editor of several books introducing groundbreaking approaches to promote patient’s recovery through ACT. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and leads randomized control trials in ACT and mindfulness-based stress reduction interventions.
Dr Oliver is a past secretary of the UK and Republic of Ireland ABCS Chapter Board and previous Chair of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) ACT Special Interest Group.
