Dr Carla Danielson is a professor of psychiatry and director of training at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is an expert in adolescent trauma and substance use disorders. Dr Danielson has a particular interest in reducing HIV infection and risky sexual behaviors in adolescents and understanding how trauma and stress can lead to mental health problems. She developed the Risk Reduction through Family Therapy intervention to address comorbid PTSD and substance use.
