Alicia Avila is an EMDR Institute trainer and expert on trauma, cultural issues and gender issues. Bilingual in Spanish and bicultural from Mexico City, Alicia offers training in cultural competence, mental health and co-occurring disorders. For over a decade, she worked with severe mental illness at the University of California San Diego and trauma recovery under EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs. Alicia has presented for an array of academic institutions and offers consultations for therapists and private psychotherapy for adults.
