Dr James F. Boswell is an expert in psychotherapy processes. He is an Associate Professor of Psychology and the Principal Investigator of the Practice Oriented Research Lab at University at Albany, State University of New York. Dr Boswell is also an Associate at the Centre for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities and an Evidence-Based Practice Implementation and Training Consultant at The Renfrew Centre in Philadelphia.

Dr Boswell’s research focuses on the factors that influence the processes and outcomes of psychological interventions and the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders. It also looks at emotion-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the development and delivery of effective strategies, and the similarities between different therapeutic approaches.

A leading representative in his field, Dr Boswell, was awarded a Fellowship by the American Psychological Association in 2018. He is on the editorial board for several journals, including Behavioral Therapy and Psychotherapy Research. He is also an ad-hoc reviewer, regular guest editor and the author of Deliberate Practice in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, published in 2021.
