Dr Carl W. Lejuez is a psychologist, academic and author of international renown. He has a wide range of expertise and interests, including addiction, personality, pathology and mood disorders, along with behavioral activation for depression. He is a faculty member in the Department of Psychological Sciences and holds the prestigious position of Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Connecticut.

Prior to his current position, he was a professor in the Department of Psychology and founder of the Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment at the University of Kansas (KU), where he also served as the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Interim Provost and Executive Vice-Chancellor. Prior to KU, he was a professor in the Department of Psychology and Founding Director of the Center for Addictions, Personality and Emotions Research at the University of Maryland.

Dr Lejuez’s books include the recent The Cambridge Handbook of Personality Disorders, Addictions: A Social Psychological Perspective and A Cancer Patient’s Guide to Overcoming Depression and Anxiety. He was a founding editor of the influential journal, Personality Disorders: Theory, Research and Treatment.

Dr. Lejuez is the lead author of the therapeutic modality Brief Behavioral Activation Treatment for Depression (BATD) and Behavior Works LLC. This approach has been widely applied in both the United States and across the globe. According to google scholar, his research has been cited more than 15,000 times over the past five years.
