Dr. James H. Fallon is a neuroscientist, researcher, teacher, family man... and psychopath!
During research on convicted murderers using brain imaging and genetics, he discovered by chance, that he has the exact same genetic and behavioral markers that are highly indicative of being a psychopath! Following thorough psychiatric analyses, he is now considered a borderline psychopath or a ‘pro-social psychopath’, crediting his loving upbringing with preventing his life from turning out very differently.
Dr. Fallon balances his professional knowledge and personal insights into psychopathy to offer a unique insight into the thoughts and feelings of psychopaths - defined as predatory individuals who demonstrate a lack of emotional empathy, moral reasoning remorse, guilt, or shame.
Through his book The Psychopath Inside, his celebrated TED Talk, and many appearances in the media his ideas have reached tens of millions of people worldwide - his best selling memoir is now available in nine languages, and has been credited with demystifying and opening up discussion about psychopathy.
He continues to research and publish on neurological and psychiatric disorders like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, as well as sleep and memory. He has conducted seminal work starting in 1995 on adult stem cells and chemical neuroanatomy and is interested in the genetics of creativity and the evolution of the hominid brain.
Dr. Fallon holds several key master patents, sits on corporate advisory boards as well as DoD, military councils, the Arts and Technology Council in the Vatican, and the American Land Forces Institute.
He continues to teach and is proud of being voted Teacher of the Year several times within the School of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, where he has worked for over forty years and was President of the Faculty and Academic Senate.
