Dr Louise McHugh is Professor of Psychology at University College Dublin, where she is also the Academic Director for the MSc. in Mindfulness-Based Interventions.

Much of her research focuses on Contextual Behavioral Science, while she is also a leading expert in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Dr McHugh is a peer-reviewed ACT trainer and a Fellow of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. Prior to her position at University College Dublin, she was Lecturer in Psychology at Swansea University.

She has published many papers on her topics of expertise, and she is also the author of two books: A Contextual Behavioral Guide to the Self and The Self and Perspective Taking. Her work has received funding from a number of prestigious sources, such as the British Academy, the Leverhulme Trust, the Waterloo Trust and the Welsh Assembly.

Other areas of research interest include perspective-taking, autism and the development and training of complex cognitive skills.
