Dr Kate Bentley is widely known as a researcher, academic and clinician. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School and a Clinical Psychologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital

Dr Bentley specializes in the prediction and treatment of suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious thoughts and behaviors and commonly co-occurring emotional disorders.

Dr Bentley is specifically interested in the role that mobile devices and other new technologies might play in preventing suicidal and self-injurious behavior. She has a view to develop and implement scalable, transdiagnostic interventions for people at risk of suicide, including providing support to high-risk individuals in real-time.

Dr Bentley has published widely in academic journals, such as the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and Clinical Psychological Science. She is the recipient of the Kavita Jain Dissertation Award from Boston University. Dr Bentley has received three fellowships from the National Institute of Mental Health and is currently supported by a five-year mentored career development award.
