Dr Joanna Cacciatore is known worldwide for her expertise in traumatic death, bereavement and grief. Her particular area of specialization is dealing with the loss of a child. She is the founder of The MISS Foundation, a volunteer organization devoted to helping families who are facing this life-transforming loss. She also holds an academic post as an Associate Professor at Arizona State University.

Dr Cacciatore’s work has been published in a plethora of peer-reviewed journals, from The Lancet to the Omega Journal of Death and Dying. She has been featured in a number of mainstream media outlets, such as People, Newsweek, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times.

A true innovator and passionate advocate in her field, Dr Cacciatore won the Hon Kachina Award in 2007, among many other accolades. She is author of the award-winning book Bearing the Unbearable: Love, Loss, and the Heartbreaking Path of Grief, with a further book, Grieving is Loving, forthcoming.
