Dr Alex Piquero is a Professor of Criminology at Monash University, Australia. Among the most revered criminologists globally, his expertise and research interests cover the whole spectrum of criminology, including criminological theory, criminological careers, and quantitative research methods.

Dr Piquero has been ranked as the number one criminologist in the world since 1996 by several influential peer-reviewed journals. He is the co-author of several important books, such as Key Issues in Criminal Careers Research and Handbook of Quantitative Criminology. He has also published several hundred peer-reviewed articles and has been cited over 35,000 times.

In 2015, United States Attorney General Eric Holder appointed Dr Piquero to the Office of Justice Programs Science Advisory Board. His work has also appeared in many mainstream media outlets, including The New York Times, Reuters, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic.
