profile

Kirk Stroshal is the pioneer and Co-Founder of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model of psychological intervention, which has gained widespread use in the mental health field globally.

Along with his partner, Patricia Robinson, Dr. Strosahl developed the brief therapy model of ACT that has been taken up widely among primary care, school, and mental health practitioners. This model is known as Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT).

Dr. Stroshal is an expert in behavioral health within the primary care system and has been a strong advocate for improved care models throughout the primary care system.

Dr. Stroshal has a long-standing focus on creating an evidence-based understanding and treatment of suicidal behavior and ideation. His extensive experience and detailed knowledge of the subject are disseminated to clinicians via workshops and his treatment handbook, Clinical Manual for Assessment and Treatment of Suicidal Patients, which is fast becoming a classic in the field.
