Dr Deirdre Leigh Barrett is Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the Cambridge Health Alliance. Her expertise is the study of dreams and the science of hypnotherapy.
She is the Past President of two associations: International Association for the Study of Dreams, and the American Psychological Association’s Society for Psychological Hypnosis (Division 30).
Dr Barrett has authored and edited books, published scientific articles and book chapters, and is consulted in the media. She has appeared in The Washington Post and The New York Times.
Editor-in-Chief of the journal called Dreaming: The Journal of the Association for the Study of Dreams, Dr Barrett is also Consulting Editor for two other journals: Imagination, Cognition, and Personality, and The International Journal for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
In addition to her research, writing and teaching, Dr Barrett is an accomplished artist who exhibits her work. Her images, given the overall title of ‘digital dream art’ are inspired by her own dreams.
