Dr Mark D. Griffiths is a psychologist of global standing, whose specialist area is behavioral addictions such as gambling disorder, gaming addiction, internet addiction, sex addiction and work addiction. He is Professor of Behavioral Addiction at Nottingham Trent University, and Director of the International Gaming Research Unit.

Dr Griffiths has authored five books, including Gambling Addiction and its Treatment Within the NHS, and Gambling and Gaming Addictions in Adolescence. He has also published several hundred refereed papers, book chapters and articles. Dr Griffiths has also received numerous awards for his work.

He also appears regularly as a media commentator and has written for The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Independent and many more.

Dr Griffiths has also provided consultancy for governments around the world, as well as the gaming industry itself. He has given keynote addresses at the US National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C, and the US National Center for Addiction in New York.
