Dr Kathleen M. Chard is the Director of the Trauma Recovery Center at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati.
Dr Chard is a prominent clinical psychologist known for codeveloping Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CPT helps patients learn how to question and alter unhelpful beliefs related to trauma. She specializes in the dissemination and clinical implementation of CPT for civilians and veterans.
Dr Chard authored CPT for Sexual Abuse Treatment Manual and co-authored Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD: A Comprehensive Model. She is co-chair of a large study comparing CPT to Prolonged Exposure in US veterans.
Dr Chard is a much sort after speaker and trainer and the recipient of the Mark Wolcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Leadership from the United Service Organization. She is a former editor of the Journal of Traumatic Stress and a board member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
