Dr Ross White is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at Queen's University in Belfast. He has a keen research interest in mental health related to elite sportsmen and women and the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help such athletes. He is an Association of Contextual Behavioral Science peer-reviewed trainer of ACT.

Dr White has researched mental health across the globe, including questions of culture and language and inequality and inequity regarding service provision. This work has led to collaborations with the World Health Organisation and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Dr White has recently authored the book Acceptance and Commitment Approaches for Athletes’ Wellbeing and Performance: The Flexible Mind and has provided mental health support to professional football and rugby teams.

Dr White was lead editor of The Palgrave Handbook of Sociocultural Perspectives on Global Mental Health. His research has been published in journals such as The Lancet Global Health, The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health, The British Journal of Psychiatry and Transcultural Psychiatry.
