Professor Jayashri Kulkarni is a world leader in psychiatry, including the fields of schizophrenia, depression and women’s mental health. She is a Professor of Psychiatry at Monash University and the Founder and Director of the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc).

In leading the Women’s Mental Health Clinic, Professor Kulkarni combines her extensive clinical experience with her research knowledge and teaching skills to improve the lives of countless women.

Professor Kulkarni has called for a revolution in psychiatry, starting with research. As an innovator and disruptor of a field well-known for high levels of treatment resistance and poor prognosis, she leads the way for patients, colleagues and students alike.

A Past President of the International Association for Women’s Mental Health, Professor Kulkarni is a widely sought speaker for professional and general audiences. She has appeared on ABC television’s Q&A, and her expertise is regularly featured on radio and print media.

In 2019 she was made a Member of the Order of Australian (AM) for significant service to medicine in the field of psychiatry.
