Across a career that has spanned 50 years, Dr Elliot Aronson has produced an immensely influential body of work in the field of social influence, cognitive dissonance, conformity, and prejudice reduction.

He was chosen by his peers as one of the most eminent psychologists of the twentieth century and still considered one of the greatest living social psychologists

Dr Aronson is arguably best known for the Jigsaw Classroom, a teaching method that enables learning while reducing prejudice against minority students in schools. His most well-known book, The Social Animal (2018), now in its 12th edition, is a bible of social psychology to many.

He has taught at Harvard University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Texas, and the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he is Emeritus Professor.

Dr Aronson has received countless awards and honors and holds the distinction of being the only person to have won the American Psychological Association's highest awards in all three major academic categories: Distinguished Writing, Distinguished Teaching, and Distinguished Research.

He's been profiled by The New York Times and had a 'tribute' book published containing essays and articles by friends and colleagues celebrating his life and work, The Scientist and the Humanist: A Festschrift in Honor of Elliot Aronson (2010).
