Dr Steven Taylor is a Professor and Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. He recently published the book The Psychology of Pandemics, the first-ever comprehensive analysis of this subject. The book has proven timely in relation to the 2020 global outbreak of coronavirus, with Dr Taylor frequently consulted by the media on aspects of this pandemic.

Dr Taylor’s other major areas of expertise include anxiety disorders and related conditions, fears and phobias, health anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He has published more than 300 articles and 20 books, including Understanding and Treating Panic Disorder, Treating Health Anxiety and Clinician’s Guide to PTSD.

The recipient of a number of prestigious early career awards, Dr Taylor has also edited several academic journals, such as Behaviour Research and Therapy, Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy, and Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders. He maintains a clinical practice in Vancouver.
