Dr Reid Hester is a Research Associate Professor in the Psychology Department of The University of New Mexico and is globally renowned for his work with helping people with alcohol and drug problems. He is perhaps best known for his work with CheckUp & Choices, an online program.

CheckUp & Choices is designed to help users assess their drinking patterns and habits, and take steps to manage their drinking if they decide to do so. Dr Hester is the organization’s co-founder as well as its Director and Senior Scientist in its Research Division.

Dr Hester is vastly experienced in his field, having been involved with the development of digital interventions for people with drug and alcohol problems for more than 25 years. He has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as the book Handbook of Alcoholism Treatment Approaches: Effective Alternatives.

Dr Hester is a Fellow of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and has won the prestigious Tibbets Award, for excellence in Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), on two occasions.
