Dr Thomas Lynch is an Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton. He is best known as the founder of Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT), a breakthrough approach in targeting difficult to treat overcontrol disorders such as anorexia nervosa, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and chronic depression.

Dr Lynch is an award-winning international speaker. He is a regular recipient of research grants from leading health institutions. He has been the chief investigator of several randomized controlled trials investigating RO DBT, the most recent one being ‘RefraMED,’ a multi-site study funded by the National Institute of Health Research in the UK.

Dr Lynch’s treatment is integrated into psychologist training workshops around the world and online via a specialist RO DBT Blended Learning program. He is the author of Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Theory and Practice for Treating Disorders of Overcontrol, a manual covering the theory and practice of RO DBT that therapists can use to effectively treat their patients as The Skills Training Manual for Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
