Dr Brian Sharpless is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides a range of clinical services in private practice. He offers wide-ranging expertise on personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder and schizoid personality disorders. He is also interested in sleep disorders, and rare and complex conditions that are not yet completely understood.

Dr Sharpless is a Visiting Associate Professor at St. Mary's College of Maryland, and an Honorary Research Fellow at Goldsmiths College, London. He has been a Clinical Fellow at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia and a Teaching Fellow of the American Psychoanalytic Association's (APsaA) Teachers Academy.

Dr Sharpless has presented at conferences all over the world, and his work has been covered by media outlets such as National Geographic, the BBC, The Boston Globe, New York Magazine and others. His latest book is Psychodynamic Therapy Techniques: A Guide to Expressive and Supportive Interventions, while his previous books include Unusual and Rare Psychological Disorders: A Handbook for Clinical Practice and Research.
