Dr Gail Steketee is Dean and professor in the School of Social Work at Boston University. Her research and teaching focus has concentrated on cognitive and behavioral treatments for compulsive behaviors and anxiety disorders.

A highly cited researcher and recipient of NIMH grant funding, Dr Steketee has an H index of 93. Her scientific publications include investigations into the assessment and treatment of hoarding disorders in adulthood, inclusive of excessive acquiring, difficulty discarding, community interventions and the family aspects of compulsory behaviors.

Dr Steketee has authored and co-authored over twenty-five books, many on the subject of hoarding. Her latest book Hoarding: What Everyone Needs to Know is a collaboration with Dr Christiana Bratiotis, another expert in the field.

Global recognition of Dr Steketee’s contributions is evidenced by her Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) in 2013. She is also the recipient of a Career Award from the San Francisco Mental Health Association and a Service Award from the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (ABCT).
