Dr George M. Slavich is Director of the Laboratory for Stress Assessment and Research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences.

Dr Slavich is a leading expert on life stress and the psychological and biological factors that link stress with bad health. He is an influential researcher and theorist in the conceptualization, assessment, and management of life stress and has won many awards for his ground-breaking work.

A known innovator in his field, Dr Slavich is responsible for developing the first online program to assess lifetime stress exposure. He also formulated the first fully integrated, multi-level theory of depression. Furthermore, he has played a pioneering role in the new field of research dubbed ‘human social genomics’.

Dr Slavich has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Medicine, JAMA Psychiatry and PNAS. Among the many awards, Dr Slavich has received the Neal E. Miller New Investigator Award from the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research.
