Dr Philip Cowan is a clinical psychologist and professor emerita of the University of California, Berkeley where he worked for 40 years. He is an expert in couples therapy, family development, social-cognitive development in children, and child and family psychopathology. Together with his wife Dr Carolyn Pape Cowan, Dr Cowan led landmark studies on families including the Becoming a Family Project, the Schoolchildren and Their Families Project and the Supporting Father Involvement Project. He has written over 140 articles and chapters.
